LEAGUE MEETINGS
Section (A)
1. A meeting of captains will be held in January of each year.
2. A halfway meeting of captains (if required) will be held at the halfway stage of each League season.
3. A special meeting of captains can be called when required. However, to call a special meeting of captains you must contact the League Secretary for it to be arranged.
4. Only the captain of each team to attend meetings or one representative to attend the meeting of captains, only if the captain of that team cannot attend.
LEAGUE MEMBERS
Section (B)
1. All league members must be 50 years of age or over or be registered disabled (over 18 years of age). Proof of a person's disability may be required.
2. League members can be male or female. However not all clubs allow females into the bar/snooker room. All clubs entering the League must inform the League Secretary if females are not allowed in the bar/snooker room.
3. Clubs that do not allow females into the bar/snooker room may have to play their home match away against teams with females playing in them if that team has more than one female in their team.
4. All clubs must be wheelchair friendly, i.e. No upstairs snooker tables unless there is a lift, or you may have to play your home games away against teams with more than one wheelchair user playing in that team.
5. A team that does not all females in or a team that does not have wheelchair access will have to play their home games away if two females or two wheelchair users are playing in that team on the day.
6. Some conditions people may have may not be recognised by the League as a Disability. Please see the League Secretary before registering a disabled player.
LEAGUE REGISTRATION
Section (C)
1. Teams wanting to join the League i.e. returning teams and new teams must attend the January meeting of captains.
2. All teams must register their team on or before the second Monday in December each year and attend a meeting of captains in January the following year.
3. A minimum 3 players per team must be registered.
4. Players can be registered at any stage up to the halfway point of the League season.
5. Players can only be registered after the halfway point of the League season if that team has 5 players or less.
6. A player can change teams up to the halfway point of the League season if they have played no more than 4 League games for the team they are leaving. This must be agreed by the League Secretary.
7. The League as a limit of 24 teams that can register to join the League each season.
8. All teams over the 24-team limit wishing to join the League will go on a waiting list until a space in the League becomes available.
LEAGUE HANDICAPS
Section (D)
1. All handicaps are calculated in nominations of 5. Which are plus or minus? They can also play from a scratch handicap.
2. If a new player is known to the League, he or she will be given a handicap automatically by a League official which will also be checked after the new player has played 4 to 6 league games. There will be a review of their handicap at the halfway point of the League season and their handicap may change,
3. Unknown new players will play from scratch for their first 4 League games (Or 6 League games if required) after which they will receive a handicap. There will be a review of their handicap at the halfway point of the season and their handicap may change.
4. Existing League members playing unknown new players with a scratch handicap will play them using their existing League handicap.
5. Once a League member receives a handicap for the season, that handicap can only be changed if there are special circumstances for it to be.
6. Winning or losing 70% of League games throughout a League season plus Leagues for a Champion and your handicap will go up or down by 5 points accordingly for the following season.
7. Anyone found to be abusing the handicap system may find their handicap go up or down by more than 5 points. This can happen during the season.
8.If a player leaves the League and then returns to play in the League again (no matter the length of time away from the League) the handicap they had before they left will remain the same when returning to the League (no matter what team they are signing for).
LEAGUE MATCHES
Section (E)
1. League matches are played on a Monday or Tuesday afternoon.
2. All League matches are to start between 12pm & 12.45pm. Unless both captains agree on a different start time for a valid reason. This must be agreed by the League Secretary.
3. Three individual frames and one pairs (see competitions section G 15) to get your Pairs handicap) frames to be played in a League match. One point is awarded for each frame won.
4. There will be two Leagues each season, an ’A’ League & ’B’ League
5. Two teams will be relegated from the ‘A’ League each season into the ‘B’ League and two teams will be promoted from the ’B’ League each season into the ’A’ League
6. Five players can play in a League match. 3 individual frames and 2 in a pairs match.
7. Four players can play in a League match. One of the individual players to play pairs with the 4th player.
8. Three players can play in a League match. 3 individual frames. 2 of the 3 players to play the pairs match.
9. Two players constitute a team. The two players will play their individual frames, the 3rd individual frames will go to the opponents, and they will receive one point for that frame. The two players will then play the pairs match.
10. If a team has one or no players for a League match, the captain must inform the opposing team captain and the League Secretary and rearrange the match as soon as possible.
11. If the League receives evidence that a team cancels a League game due to have no players available and they had players available, that team may be fined and/or have League points deducted.
12. Only the home team complete a result card. It must be signed by both captains.
13. Names for the three individual League games only are to be drawn out of the hat.
14. Result cards must be sent in on or before the Friday after that week’s League games.
15. Teams (home & away) must also telephone or text the result into the League secretary straight after each League match.
16. Result cards will not be accepted if they are not on the correct result cards which are provided by the League Secretary.
17. Rearranged matches must be played on weekdays only (Monday to Friday) between 12pm & 4pm. Both captains must agree on the day & time. The League Secretary must be informed of all changes.
18. If the League winners & runners up have the same points at the end of the season, the team with the most League wins, or most draws, or most 4 nil victories or head-to-head results wins the League. If all are still equal there will then be a play-off. This is the same for 2nd placing.

LEAGUE’S FOR A CHAMPION
Section (F)
1. Leagues for a Champion is 4 League’s with 6 teams in each League.
2. Leagues will be played over 10 weeks.
3. League matches are 3 individual frames, point for each frame won.
4. Names in League games to be drawn out of the hat.
5. Top 2 teams from each League go into quarter finals.
6. Quarter-final, Semi-finals and the final will be 3 individuals, you receive one point for each frame won plus one point for the long game (Long games is all points from each individual games added together, most points win the long game).
7. If the results is 2 all, a name from the 3 players that played the individuals will be drawn out of the hat to play a final individual game to decide the winners.
8. Quarterfinals are:
Winner of League{A}play runners up League{B}
Winner of League{B}play runners up League{A}
Winner of League{C}play runners up League{D}
Winner of League{D}play runners up League{C}
9. The semi-final are the winners of quarter-final {A & B} & (C & D) play each other in the semi-finals
10. If the League winners & runners up have the same points at the end, the team with the most League wins, or most 3 nil victories or head-to-head results wins the League. If all are still equal there will then be a play-off. This is the same for 2nd & 3rd placings.
11. Semi-finals & the final will be played on the same day in the Raglan Quoit Club
COMPETITIONS
Section (G)
1. There is a small fee to enter the Individuals & Pairs competitions. The Team Knockout is free entry.
2. The Individuals and the Pair’s competitions are one frame in all rounds up to the final.
3. The Final of the Individuals and the Pair’s will be the best of 3 frames unless one of the finalists is physically unable to play the best of 3 frames. It will then be a one frame Final. (Please remember we have elderly and disabled players in our League that may not be physically able to play more than one frame of snooker).
4. The Team Knockout all 3 frames must be played in full. You receive one point for each frame won. Add all the points from each frame together. The team with the most points receives one point for the long game (Long games is all points from each individual games added together, most points win the long game).
5. If the results is 2 all, a name from the 3 players that played the individuals will be drawn out of the hat to play a final individual game to decide the winners.
(Players’ names must be drawn out and played in the order drawn).
6. Captains or team representatives must not enter a player in any competition without their consent.
7. Only enter a competition if you are going to take part or you will receive a fine.
8. By entering any of the competitions it infers you agree to pay any fines you incur.
9. Individuals & Pairs competitions will be played on a stipulated date.
10. Individuals & Pairs competitions will be played in several clubs in each round. At least four matches will be played at each club nominated to be play in each round, on a stipulated date.
11. Each round of the Team Knockout will be played on a stipulated date for each round.
12. There will be a rota for the venues to hold the Individuals quarter finals to the final and the Pairs semi-finals & final plus the Team Knockout semi-finals and the final.
13. The venue for the Individuals & Team Knockout competition must be a club with two snooker tables and can accommodate a large crowd of supporters.
14. The venues for the Pairs must be able to accommodate a large crowd of supporters.
15. If you unable to take part in the Pair’s competition for a creditable reason, your partner can nominate a replacement for you, only if that replacement has not played in the Pair’s competition that season. This can only happen in the preliminary or first round only. This must be agreed by the League Secretary.
16. To get your Pairs handicap. Add both your handicaps together, then half the full amount. If it comes to 10 1/2 that becomes 11 if it’s 3 1/2 becomes 4 and so on
17. New teams entering the League and are wanting to and can hold any of the competition’s finals will go to the bottom of the rota.
COMPETITION FINES
Section (H)
1. Competition fines are as follows: Individual match fine is £2. Pairs match fine is £2 per player & Team Knockout match fine is £5 per team.
2. Failing to play a competition game/match you will incur a fine.
3. Not wanting to take part in a competition because you did not want to enter, or you were unaware you had entered will incur a fine. (See section (G) rule 7 Competitions).
4. Fines must be paid within 4 weeks of receiving it.
5. Failing to pay any fine you incur will result in you being disqualified from entering that competition in the following League season.
LEAGUE TROPHIES & CASH PRIZES
Section (I)
1. The winners of the ‘A’ & ‘B’ League’s receive the annual League winner’s trophy which they hold until the end of the following League season at which point, they must return it to the League Secretary.
2. The ‘A’ & ‘B’ League winners & runners up receive a team trophy and a cash prize.
3. The winners of the League’s for a Champion receive the annual winner’s trophy which they hold until the end of the following League season at which point, they must return it to the League Secretary.
4. The League for a Champion, and runners up receive a team trophy and a cash prize.
5. The winner of the League's highest break minus 35 to minus 14 handicap & the winner of the highest break minus 7 to plus 7 handicap & the winners of the League’s highest break plus 14 to plus 28 handicaps receive an annual trophy which they must return at the end of the following League season to the League Secretary. They also receive a trophy to keep and a cash prize.
6. All trophies and cash prizes will be given out at the snooker presentation only.
COMPETITION TROPHIES & CASH PRIZES
Section (J)
1. The winner of the Individuals, Pairs & Team Knockout competitions receive the annual winner’s trophy which they must return at the end of the following League season to the League Secretary.
2. The winner of the Individuals, Pairs & Team Knockout competitions receive a trophy to keep plus a cash prize.
3. The runners up of the Individuals, Pairs & Team Knockout competitions receive a trophy to keep plus a cash prize.
4. All trophies and cash prizes will be given out at the snooker presentation only.
SNOOKER PRESENTATION
Section (K)
1. The snooker presentation will be held on the Tuesday before Christmas Day unless that Tuesday falls on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day. Between the hours of 12pm & 4.30pm.
2. The venue for the snooker presentation will be on a rota system and will be announced at the January meeting of captains.
3. The club that holds the snooker presentation must also agree to promote our Christmas cash prize draw tickets. A letter will be sent to that club's committee with all the details. The snooker league is not licensed to sell these tickets under the League's name.
4. The club holding the presentation will be asked to make a cash donation of £100 to the League funds.
5. All teams are required to bring a bottle of spirits to the snooker presentation for a raffle prize.
6. Tickets for the snooker presentation will go on sale at the beginning of November each season.
7. Volunteers are required at the snooker presentations for the following, selling raffle tickets plus Christmas cash prize draw tickets and bingo books plus calling out the bingo, plus a compere to compere the event and a doorman.
SPONSORS, FUNDS & FUNDRAISING
Section (L)
1. The League currently banks with Barclays. Two from four signatures are needed to sign cheques.
2. A balance sheet of the League’s finances will be distributed at the January meeting of captains.
3. Any League member wanting to check or wanting to see the books of the League’s finances may do so by request to the League Secretary.
4. The League currently has a sponsor for the ’A’ & ’B’ Leagues and all the competitions. However, we are always looking for local businesses who may be interested in sponsoring our League or one of our competitions. Please contact the League Secretary if you know anyone who may be interested in sponsoring our League or competitions.
5. The ‘A’ & ‘B’ League’s sponsorship is currently £300 each per season.
6. League’s for a Champion sponsorship is currently £250 per season
7. Individuals’ competition sponsorship is currently £150 per season.
8. Pairs competition sponsorship is currently £150 per season.
9. Team Knockout sponsorship is currently £150 per season.
10. Snooker presentation sponsorship is currently £300 per season.
11. Monthly Football forecast sheet sponsorship is currently £250 per season
12. League’s Highest Breaks minus 35 to minus 15. minus 10 to plus 10 & plus 15 to plus 25 handicaps. Highest Break sponsorship is currently £25 each.
13. Each year the League holds a Christmas cash prize draw. We pay out £1650 in cash prizes. The draw will be drawn at the snooker presentation.
14. Each team is given ten Christmas cash prize draw tickets per player to sell (tickets are £1 each). So, if you have 5 players on your team you receive 50 tickets to sell. If you have 8 players, you receive 80 tickets to sell and so on. You can also ask for more tickets to sell.
15. We ask that each player sells the Christmas cash prize draw tickets to family and friends. Your club may not allow them to be sold in your club.
16. All proceeds from the Christmas cash prize draw will go into the snooker League funds.
17. The League runs a monthly football forecast with the proceeds going into the League’s funds. We understand that some clubs sell their own forecast sheets however if you are able sell any forecast sheets see the League Secretary for details.
18. The League is not registered as a charity however we do accept donations.
LEAVING & RETURNING
Section (M)
1. If a team leaves the League and wants to return a season or two later, that team will go to the bottom of any waiting list.
2. If a team leaves the League during a League season. All points won against the leaving team will be deducted from your League points total.
3. If a team leaves the League within the first six League games of that season. A new team will be allowed to take their place.
4. A new team joining the League during a League season, will be the team at the top of any waiting list.
5. If a team leaves the League after playing more than six League games. Their League place will become a BYE, plus all points won against the leaving team will be deducted from each team’s league points total.
6. A new team joining the League to replace a leaving team must play the amount of League games they have missed as soon as can be arranged.
7. If a club closes, the League will help that team/s to find a new venue to play from if required.
8. If a club closes and the team/s move to a new venue, that team/s must use the name of the new venue.
9. If a team wants to move from one venue to another venue for whatever reason, they may not automatically be allowed to.
10. If a team wants to move venues the League Secretary must ask the club they are leaving if they still want a team in the League.
11. If the club of a leaving team wants to have a team to remain in the League. The leaving team will be removed from the League.
12. A team that has left a venue and cannot remain in the League can request to join the League and they will go bottom of any waiting list.
MISCONDUCT
Section (N)
1. The Hartlepool over 50 & Disabled Snooker League will not tolerate misconduct from any of its League members.
2. Misconduct by a Hartlepool over 50 & Disabled Snooker League member will result in them being issued with an official written warning.
3. Further misconduct by a member of the Hartlepool over 50 & Disabled Snooker League will be dealt with by a special meeting of Captains.
4. All misconduct matters can be appealed against, in writing to the Hartlepool over 50 & Disabled Snooker League Secretary, who will decide if the matter needs to go to a special meeting of Captains to be resolved.
5. The Hartlepool over 50 & Disabled Snooker League will not tolerate any aggressive verbal attack on a match day from one member to another member or indeed from a member to a supporter or an onlooker. This will result in the perpetrator receiving an official warning letter.
6. The Hartlepool over 50 & Disabled Snooker League will not tolerate any physically assault from one member to another member on any day, not just a match day.
7. Any physical assault from a member of the Hartlepool over 50 & Disabled Snooker League to another member of the Hartlepool over 50 & Disabled Snooker League will lead to the perpetrator receiving a one-year ban from playing in the Hartlepool over 50 & Disabled Snooker League immediately.
8. Any physical assault from a member of the Hartlepool over 50 & Disabled Snooker League to another member of the Hartlepool over 50 & Disabled Snooker League may lead to perpetrator receiving a lifetime ban from playing in the League depending on the severity of the physical assault.
9. The perpetrator of a physical assault will be allowed to explain his actions in a letter to a special meeting of the Hartlepool over 50 & Disabled Snooker League Captains.
10. A second physical assault from a member of the Hartlepool over 50 & Disabled Snooker League on another member of the Hartlepool over 50 & Disabled Snooker League will lead to them receiving a lifetime ban from them playing in the Hartlepool over 50 & Disabled Snooker League, without appeal.
GOOD CONDUCT
Section (O)
1. All league members must honour each club's rules set by that club's committee.
2. Give the best of order when matches are being played, there may be more than one match being played.
3. Leave each club has you found it and return your glasses before you leave.
SOCIAL MEDIA & WEBSITES
Section (P)
1. The Leagues social media sites and website have all the latest League news, fixtures, results, tables, highest breaks, competitions, honours, photos, and lots more.
2. The League Official Facebook page is ‘Hartlepool over 50 & Disabled Snooker League’.
3. The League also as another Facebook page which is ‘Over 50s Snooker League’.

JUST FOR FUN
Section (Q)
1. Each month all teams will receive a monthly newsletter written by Steve Robson League secretary. The newsletter is just a bit of fun and is not meant to cause offence to anyone. We hope you will enjoy it.
2. At the end of each League season a book written by Steve Robson League secretary will be on sale at the snooker presentation. The book is a review of the past season and a whole lot more.
LEAGUE RULES & REGULATIONS
Section (R)
1. All the League Rules & Regulations are approved by the captains of each team, and are all on our website www.over50ssnooker.co.uk
2. Existing League Rules & Regulation can be changed during a League season at a meeting of Captains.
3. If an existing rule is changed, any decisions made before the changing of that rule will stand unless a meeting of Captains decides otherwise.
4. New Rules & Regulations can be introduced during a League season at a meeting of Captains.
5. A new and updated League Rules & Regulations book will be printed for the beginning of each new League season.
CLUBS & THEIR RULES
Section (S)
1. The Hartlepool over 50 & Disabled Snooker League cannot get involved with any clubs’ rules and regulations set by that club's committee.
2. If a club does not allow females into its bar/snooker room. The Hartlepool over 50 & Disabled Snooker League does not have the authority to overturn that ruling made by that club's committee.
3. The Hartlepool over 50 & Disabled Snooker League will not tolerate any League member/s or their supporters complaining to or verbally attacking any League member who is also a member of a club that does not allow females into their bar/snooker room. This will be dealt with under (See MISCONDUCT Section (M)
4. A League member who is also a member of a club that does not allow females into its bar/snooker room cannot change that clubs ruling, even if they are on that clubs committee.
5. The Hartlepool over 50 & Disabled Snooker League does appreciate the fact that we do have some female supporters who enjoy going to different clubs to support their team and long may it continue. Unfortunately, as it says above our hands are tied and we must abide by clubs’ rules and regulations. Hopefully this may not be the case in the coming years.
